Ha Giang Loop Self-Riding – 4D3N Small Group Adventure

Experience the Ha Giang Loop from the rider’s seat on a four-day, three-night motorbike adventure through one of Vietnam’s most spectacular mountain regions.

This small-group self-riding tour is operated by Jasmine Tours Ha Giang, a legally registered Vietnamese travel company and licensed tour operator. It is designed for confident motorbike riders who want the freedom of riding the Ha Giang Loop themselves while still travelling with an organised group and local support.

You will ride your own motorbike throughout the journey, following an experienced local tour leader through Ha Giang’s winding mountain roads. Groups are normally kept to around 10 guests or fewer, allowing better communication, easier group management and a more personal experience along the way.

Over four days, ride through dramatic mountain passes, deep valleys, ethnic minority villages and some of northern Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes. Highlights include Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, Tham Ma Pass, the H’Mong King’s Palace, Lung Cu, Ma Pi Leng Pass, the Nho Que River, Meo Vac and Du Gia, together with quieter roads and local stops that make the four-day journey more complete than shorter Loop itineraries.

Self-riding gives you a completely different connection with Ha Giang. Every mountain pass, curve and viewpoint becomes part of the adventure itself. You are not simply travelling through the landscape — you are actively riding through it.

Our local tour leader knows the roads, villages, weather conditions and communities of Ha Giang and guides the group throughout the journey. Regular stops are made for viewpoints, meals, local experiences and rest along the route.

Safety is an important part of the self-riding experience. Motorbikes are checked before departure, helmets are provided, and guests must follow the instructions of the tour leader and all applicable Vietnamese traffic regulations. Alcohol must not be consumed before or during riding hours.

Driving Licence Requirements

Guests choosing the Self-Riding option must carry a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) recognised for use in Vietnam, together with their original national motorcycle licence.

Having the correct driving documents helps guests comply with local traffic regulations and reduces potential problems during roadside checks by local traffic police.

Guests are responsible for ensuring that their driving licence and documents are valid and suitable for the motorcycle they will operate.

If you are unsure whether your licence or International Driving Permit is valid for riding in Vietnam, please contact the Jasmine Tours team before departure. Our team can guide you through the required documents and help you understand what you need to prepare before joining the tour.

Self-riding is recommended for travellers who already have motorbike riding experience and feel comfortable controlling a motorcycle on winding mountain roads, steep sections and changing road conditions.

If you do not have suitable riding experience or valid driving documents, we strongly recommend choosing our Easy Rider option, where an experienced local rider drives the motorbike while you travel as the passenger.

Each evening, stay in locally operated homestays or guesthouses, enjoy Vietnamese and regional meals, and share the experience with a small group of travellers from around the world.

Jasmine Tours Ha Giang is a legally registered travel business in Vietnam and operates under the relevant licences and approvals issued by the competent Vietnamese authorities.

The 4D3N Self-Riding Small Group Adventure is ideal for experienced riders, solo travellers, couples and groups of friends who want more independence and the satisfaction of riding the Ha Giang Loop themselves while still having the structure and support of an organised tour.

Four days gives you more time to ride beyond the main viewpoints, discover quieter mountain roads and experience what makes Ha Giang unforgettable: the roads, the mountains, the villages, the people and the freedom of the ride itself.

Don’t just travel the Ha Giang Loop — take the handlebars and experience every mountain road for yourself.
